    Compositing and CGI

Virtual Balcony and Metahuman Digital Double

TRT: 42 seconds  Client: Mysterious Pictures

The hotel is an art deco landmark in Cannes, Frances. It was booked and beyond the budget. With an establishing shot exterior, we placed a digital double of lead character (Adam Paul) using Unreal Metahumans and built a look-alike balcony in 3d. The CGI was composited behind a cut-out on the foreground plate. The shot was handheld, so we had to do a motion track for the background plate to move in synch.

    Composite and Rotoscope

TRT: 31 Seconds Client: Mysterious Pictures

The lead character (Adam  Paul) walks out onto a balcony. The real balcony was too low to be spectacular, and was the wrong kind of view. We took a background plate in a different part of Cannes, France to use in the composite. We could not mount a green screen in front of the balcony. So, the foreground plate had to be rotoscoped. Lighting had to match a reverse angle taken of the famed building looking up from the street.

Camera Tracking, Metahuman and AI Character Animation

    TRT: 1:20 Client: Mysterious Pictures

It's a POV shot, and the lead character (Adam Paul) sees a blend of reality, memory and fantasy. The Cannes, France architecture with narrow streets lent itself to the idea of a person of interest walking into a building and a person spying on them imagines how they will encounter each other (or not) by what he sees or fantasizes in the window.

AI Set Alteration & Extension from Location Cinematography

The lead character (Adam Paul) is a consummate collector of art and curios. Normally, he shops at the Forville, Market. But for the script, we needed a market closed for renovations. The market was in fact closed in real life. So, we had to create a set that looked like it was open for business.

Wardrobe Color Change with AI and Rotoscoping

The lead character (Adam Paul) keeps seeing a woman dressed in saffron yellow. We did not have wardrobe control of every outfit. But many participants had black clothing. So, we set to work transforming the color of the garments from black to saffron yellow. Sometimes rotoscoping was the best choice, other times using AI.

     Typographic Composite with Motion Tracking

The lead character (Adam Paul) carries with him a postcard he looks at many times. We wanted to keep the postcard message and address side clean so that later the voice-over could reference the card's message. While on set, we had only one actual antique prop card, and no easy way to reproduce it available.
